Slavic linen dress with hand-embroidered round neckline

This early medieval linen dress is based on archaeological finds and early medieval iconography. It is a universal basic outfit for all early medieval reenactors, especially Slavs and Vikings. This type of dress served as the main lower layer and was worn as an undergarment/underdress and a summer dress on particularly hot days. Over it, women wore overdresses, tunics and aprons, which could be made of wool or linen, depending on the season.

The dress is sewn according to the early medieval cut. The body of the dress is simple and straight. From the waist, two triangular gussets (one on each side) widen the dress, providing freedom of movement. As the size increases, these gussets can be sewn higher. The sleeves are wide and loose, which slightly narrow towards the wrist. The squares are sewn under the armpits.

The specific appearance of this dress is more in line with the historical attire of a very wealthy, high-class woman due to the rich decorations and colors. Poorer residents could afford such dresses without decorations and only in natural colors, which could be obtained by basic dyeing, e.g. with grass or berries.

The offer includes only the dress. The belt and other elements are not included with the dress!

FABRIC AND COLOR

• The dress is made of 100% pure linen, has an average weight of 185 g/m2.

• It is pre-washed - so it does not shrink, is soft and pleasant to wear.

• High quality with the Ecotex-100 certificate. Linen is produced in Belarus from local crops.

• Please note that colors may vary depending on lighting conditions and screen settings. We are not responsible for this.

• Sometimes the colors in the palette may differ slightly due to the fabric rotation at the supplier.

SIZE AND LENGTH

• The size you choose does not affect the length of the dress! It will be adjusted to your height!.

• If you do not provide your height and do not send us information about it, the dress will be ready for a full height of 168 cm.

• The size is selected based on the widest point of the bust using OUR size chart. Send us your measurements using our chart and choose the size based on the widest point of the bust.

• By choosing a standard size, the dress will be sewn to the maximum dimensions of the selected size. For example, size M (91-98 cm) will be prepared for a 98 cm bust.

• We use traditional tailoring and each item is made to order. The dress cannot be returned or exchanged due to incorrect size or incorrect measurements, or when it is not needed. We are not responsible for this and ask that you respect the time spent preparing the dress. We also recommend consulting a professional tailor at a tailor's shop to obtain accurate measurements.

WASHING AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

- wash at 40°C

• Wash at 40C - colored clothes; 60C – white or natural clothes

• Machine wash using the “hand wash” program!

• Do not use bleach or stain removers!

• Do not use a fast spin cycle (it damages the seams and fibers).

• Dry in a vertical position outdoors. Do not tumble dry.

• To maintain appearance, it is best to iron clothes with water dampened, inside out, up to 150C (two dots)

The product can be made in two versions:

1) Standard size - machine stitching - the product is completely sewn with a sewing machine, the edges are overlocked.

2) Hand finishing option - all visible (external) seams are sewn by hand, all invisible seams are sewn with a sewing machine. The edges are overlocked.

Complete hand sewing is available only on request. The cost starts from x2 of the total cost of the dress.
